Meridian Yoga combines the yoga practices and acupressure points that I’ve found to be the most potent and healing in working with my patients to treat common aches and pains, and move pent-up emotional energy. The class covers all major body movements and their associated aches and pains over three 2-hr workshops. You'll finish the class with a basic understanding of how to self-treat your most common musculo-skeletal complaints with acupressure and gentle stretching. There will be ample time for relaxation, and movements will be freeing and uncomplicated. 

Bring your body, breath and some water. Wear very comfortable clothes. 

Please plan to attend all 3 classes so that you have a higher likelihood of covering the areas of your body you would most like to address.

Stomach: 7-9am Earth Element 🌱 This is the bes Stomach: 7-9am Earth Element 🌱

This is the best time of day to eat breakfast. I don’t think I’ve ever recommended that any of my patients skip breakfast. Breakfast is important because it sets the stage for the rest of your day. You’re coming out of a fasting state so a balanced meal (not a quick pick me up) is in order. If your breakfast is nourishing enough, your body will feel less stressed for the rest of the day, and that is a feel-good cycle to be in. Walking is great any time of day, but especially if you have digestive or blood sugar issues, taking a walk after breakfast is good medicine.

If you don’t feel hungry by 9am and you wake up at 7am (or earlier) it could be a sign of digestive weakness. If you have a low appetite, don’t eat much and gain weight easily it’s worth talking to a naturopath or acupuncturist about.

Spleen: 9-11am Earth Element 🌱
The Spleen governs the intellect and so this time of day is considered one of the best times to get focused work done. If you commute during this time a podcast or audiobook is a great way to stimulate your mind. The spleen and pancreas work together to power up your brain and body with all the good nutrients from your breakfast. If you feel sluggish this time of day and reach for coffee it might be a habit to wonder about. Is your digestive energy weak and therefore not giving you the energy you need?

ALMOND FLOUR GINGER COOKIES (A current favorite a ALMOND FLOUR GINGER COOKIES 
(A current favorite at the Lovinsky household)

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups almond flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 Tablespoon blackstrap molasses
2 to 3 tablespoons coconut sugar

Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine the almond flour, ginger, salt and baking soda and mix well. Then add in the coconut oil, maple syrup, and molasses, and mix until a thick batter is formed.

2.Scoop the batter by rounded tablespoons, then roll it between your hands to form a ball. Roll the balls in coconut sugar, if desired.

3.Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet, and flatten them to be roughly 1/2-inch thick. They will not spread much more once you bake them. Bake until the cookies lightly puff up, about 10 to 12 minutes.

4.The cookies will be very soft and fragile when you remove them from the oven. Let them cool completely, then serve at room temperature. Leftovers can be stored on the counter for up to 3 days (don't put them in an airtight container or they will get soft), or you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them for up to 2 weeks. (They can also be frozen for up to 3 months, if you want to make a larger batch.)
